Avoid bad cosmetic ingredients

Let greenwashing

Imagine a romantic date with a (an) unknown (e). You've never seen the real person but please a lot because you have exchanged many messages ... This is a "blind date": you'll finally meet the other.
He (or she) is described in his messages: blond hair, dark skin, green eyes, whatever you like! The day of the appointment, he (or she) is well on time! And there patatra: he (or she) bears no relation to what had been written. He (or she) lied! Rather disappointing right?
That's exactly what happens with cosmetics that are presented to you as "natural" and yet contain in their formula of petrochemical derivatives, silicones, ethoxylated substances, synthetic preservatives and I It happens ... is called Greenwashing.
You often ask me in comments or by email or via Facebook: do this or that brand is natural? To simplify, I will centralize the information a little lower ...
For many years, I could identify with my work columnist and author marks that are as natural and that put a message alluding to nature.
I have listed these among those brands whose products (not necessarily all) contain at least one synthetic ingredient, plastic, petrochemical or ignoble. I speak here from cosmetic ingredients: petrolatum, paraffinum liquidum, Cera microcristallina, isohexadecane, all petroleum products, X-siloxane, dimethicone, X-one, isopropyl-X, X-polymer, -eth, sodium laureth sulfate, all SLS , butyl-, ethyl-, methyl-, PEG, PPG, BHT, EDTA, DMDM hydantoin, phenoxyethanol, paraben-X, Methylisothiazolinone, benzophenone, perfume, and some other rarer (yes because these are hyper currents , be careful ;-))…
I did not invent anything, the INCI lists are within reach. Just read on the package since they are required to present to the consumer (thankfully).
Well, you'll be amazed (s), the list of these brands is long. I will limit myself here to quote the best known, alphabetically, from those I perceive as "Green" in our European Francophone countries:
CAUDALIE
DECLEOR
GARNIER
KIEHL'S
KORRES
LE PETIT MARSEILLE
LE PETIT OLIVIER
LUSH
NUXE (range non bio)
L'OCCITANE
THE BODY SHOP
ULTRA SOFT
Yonka
Yves Rocher
I put in green brands, but you can imagine that this is just a snub 😉

Let the low-end cosmetics

In the category "Greenwashing" adds another category "Conventional" huge! Is that of the most common cosmetic. A conventional cosmetics does not answer any organic certification, and it does not appear to us as natural. Most often, it highlights its efficacy, texture, fragrance, brand, etc. The segment is very broad: it is as much of your everyday products (shower gels, deos), as luxury products (serums, perfumes).
Of course, each is different. Some are effective, others not. Some are sweet, some not. Some have a good value, others not. But all conventional products have one common denominator: they contain at least one synthetic ingredient, or pollutant, or controversy to health.
It's very disappointing, and that's why I often tell you that true luxury is the natural ingredient and living in large numbers in a Slow Cosmetics product. Plastics, polymers, petroleum, ethoxylated substances, which wants on his skin?
As part of my work as writer-columnist beauty, I had fun identifying the brands whose products (not necessarily all but many) contain at least one ingredient among the ingredients of families mentioned above. Again the list is long and amazing ... We find these products in pharmacies and luxury perfumeries much as in supermarkets! I will limit myself here to the most common brands to date in our European Francophone countries:
AVENE
BERGASOL
BIODERMA
BIOTHERM
BOURJOIS
